Description:

Eight years on from 2088, and it is a lot worse on Earth. The Agent leads the dark sect sending out viruses from his vortex amplifier, with horrific affects for people and systems across the globe. His dominance has risen, causing the authorities to overlook the needs of people, as they battle against him. But they still require the knowledge of flux mechanics for technology beyond light speed that only John Matheson possesses.
Many of the once glittering towers, have been painted matt black by the Agent and his minions, and where people live in western sector under his control, they are entirely deprived of technology and food – it is a life of survival.
When John arrives at Carmel Madeline’s house north of San Francisco, she is happily letting off steam from a small engine she has lovingly restored. They decide there must be something they can do, and they set out towards the fence, dividing the United States into two sectors – the east and the west. But the Agent is upon them, seizes Carmel, who was his former superior officer at the authorities, and John has to go on alone, with Frieda their horse pulling the wooden cart carrying Carmel’s engine. Along the way, he witnesses the horrors of people afflicted with viruses from the Agent, as they are drawn into unstable voids in masses of macabre entanglement.
When he arrives at the fence, helped by a new friend, he meets his old mate Tobias with his home made ray gun, and the three of them plan a journey west to rescue Carmel from the Agent’s lair at a jet manufacturing plant in Seattle. Their mission is a success, and they are also able to rescue their long lost friends, reclaim the Torus of Eternity from the Agent, and destroy his dreaded vortex amplifier. As they battle the Agent’s minions looking to escape, they find a HyperJet John can fly to take them away from the Agent and his megalomania.
They journey to South America taking Frieda and Carmel’s beloved steam engine, to join a peaceful small steam driven farm community and hide from the Agent, and the authorities. Without his amplifier, the Agent takes to vengeance, and sets out to inflict grave damage upon the authorities, destroying their moon bases, and bombarding their infrastructure with viruses he has inserted into his laser canon fire. This enrages the authorities, and so they embark on objectives to destroy the Agent’s control – reducing his cities to rubble. But it is not enough – they want flux mechanics and now they set out to find John using their newly developed robotics and scanners.
The Agent goes on looking for the Torus of Eternity used to power his vortex amplifier, and finally finds the group hiding in the secret valley in Peru, but he is not good enough, as Jenna, Chan, and others thwart his attempt to take back the Torus. The group expect the return of John and his friend who have set out to deceive the authorities now chasing the HyperJet stolen from the Agent’s lair. It is then that Eric Gunter, a new type of trans-human fitted with internal nano mechanical implants, including mechanical eyes forever casting shutters over the windows to his soul, finds a way to apprehend John, and so he is successful in obtaining the flux mechanics. Gunter delivers devastation across the globe, and then sends a new type of spacecraft into an experimental spatial anomaly, whilst John is cast deep into a vast underground prison.
The Earth is to be cast deeper into darkness as the Agent continues his ways of destruction, and the authorities use flux mechanics for the new machine planet Earth is to become. But John has made one last move when he was infused with tiny robots to control his thoughts. Can he save the planet from a formidable future, and can the others still hiding in the secret valley, retain the Torus of Eternity for its full activation, and assist the entire human race to awaken from darkness, so Earth can pass into an era of peace and light?
