Kacey has lost everything, the only things she’s left with is the clothes on her body and the child she carries. At her wits end after her cheating, drug and alcoholic boyfriend ditched her. After Kacey had walked the streets of York, she finds herself with no other option than to try and go back home to her parents, who she hadn’t seen in ten years.
Only on arrival her Mum slams the door in her face, leaving her anguished, lost and scared, knowing she has nothing, no money, no home, nothing, aware the chances of her baby being taken away when born where high.
Not willing to carry on with the path her life is taking she comes across a bridge with a fast flowing river, sobbing her heart out she finds she’s left with no choice but to try and end her misery. Kacey finds an old, rickety bridge and decides that is where she would take the opportunity to jump, free the world of her. While holding onto the bridge rail, sobbing, talking to her unborn baby, wishing there had been another road for them to take, but there is no hope, no-one appeared to care, all she has ever dreamed about since leaving home is to have stability a warm safe home and food in the cupboards.
Only as she is arguing to herself a young man appears, and does his best to try and coax her down of the bridge, his name Calvin Edwards. He appears sweet, warm hearted, but she fears it’s all an act.
Calvin Edwards cannot believe what he discovers while strolling on his parents land a young expectant mum thinking about…well he hopes not to jump, only his fears where right. Calvin is visiting his parents on holiday from London where he runs his father real estate company. His mission is to try and help the woman, try and find out what drove her to try and do such an act, when listening to her, her problems are gut wrenching, and he understands why she is where he finds her.
Once he has her down from the bridge he takes her to the nearest village pub, where he decides before calling the police he give her the benefit of the doubt. He makes the ultimate sacrifice to help her, get her in a warm, safe secure environment at the local pub cottage. He promises to call his best friend Ross who knows the benefit channel and seeks to help her get a home and seeking help from the government.
When Kacey is settled in the cottage, believing she’s shattered and not likely to try and take her or her unborn baby life, he leaves, to start proceedings in getting her the true help she requires.
Kacey cannot believe Calvin’s kindness, never had she come across such a sweet, caring man who wishes nothing more than to help her. Kacey’s delighted only fears his true motives. ‘Nobody does anything for nothing’.
After a short time their friendship builds, sharing some wonderful times together a trip to the Yorkshire Dales, both Calvin and Kacey are feeling some emotions toward one another, only what is about to happen will tip both their lives upside down.
The past comes back to life and they are both left mortified and needing one another to get through the turmoil they have somehow created.
