Description:

Hans Tamberg is an ambitious anti-fraud investigator at the European Commission in Brussels. In the course of a probe, he discovers that someone inside the Commission has been manipulating statistics to cover up the disappearance of uranium from nuclear reactors across Europe. Just as Hans is narrowing down his search for the perpetrator, he is contacted by the German foreign intelligence service: they believe that the suspect is in fact a Russian spy. Both the Germans and the Commission’s highest political levels want that man exposed. Their joint operation to confront him takes a violent turn, however, and events start spinning out of control. Abandoned by his superiors, Hans is suddenly pursued by police investigators and foreign agents himself. Yet he still has his own case to solve: amid rising tensions along Europe’s eastern borders with a resurgent Russia, the missing uranium remains a potential threat to the security of the Baltic states, including his native Estonia. Laws no longer protect him, normal procedures do not apply – if Hans wants to find out the truth, he has to do it on his own.
